My oil painting, “Folsom 4th of July”, has been accepted into the 2018 KVIE Art Auction here in Sacramento. We’ll attend a gala preview in July were award winners for each category are announced and previewed. (Donated works will also be available to preview online.) The actual live art auction will be broadcast October 5 – 7 on KVIE. Here’s the painting that I submitted and donated to the auction:
I’ve just finished this little painting of an Old Sacramento Carriage. This carriage was just pulling out on 2nd St, passing the Visitor’s Center. I hope that you like it. It will be available soon at the Artists’ Collaborative Gallery.

Oil on gallery-wrapped canvas, 12×16
I was helping out in the Artist’s Collaborative Gallery today for our participation in the monthly “2nd Saturday” Sacramento event. Hundreds of people from all over the country came through the gallery today. In particular, I met a very nice couple from Denver. They really liked my my little Le Deux Magots Paris cafe oil painting that I just finished in January.
We discussed my oil painting process at length, then they left with my card. Business tapered off in the afternoon. So, I went home a bit early, having enjoyed meeting so many nice people.
On my way home, Marleen called from the gallery to say that the couple had returned and purchased the painting. She said that they also gave me a $50 tip, insisting that it was priced too low. Funny, I did not know that people sometime tip artists! Go ahead, make my day. 🙂

Here we are on 2nd Saturday at the Artist’s Collaborative Gallery meeting a lot of nice visitors. This young man did not buy any art, but the snack table was a big hit with him!
I’ve finished my little Paris cafe painting. I hope that you like it.
Les Deux Magots, oil on gallery-wrap canvas, 12 x 16, $350
Les Deux Magots is a famous café in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés area of Paris, France. It once had a reputation as the rendezvous of the literary and intellectual élite of the city. It is now a popular tourist destination. – Wikipedia
Here’s a new painting that I’m working on using a black canvas. It think that it gives it a vintage feeling. Also, I’m pushing into an impressionistic look with the use of broken color. So far, I’m happy with it. Wish me luck with all the figures in the bottom half of the painting! Welcome to Paris! Thanks for looking. “Le Deux Magots,” oil on canvas, 12 x 16
I recently applied to and have been unanimously accepted into the Artists Collaborative Gallery in Old Sacramento! As early as this Friday, I’ll have 6 of paintings on the wall. I have a small space, but this location has great foot traffic. Please stop by some time to visit my paintings. The gallery is located at 129 K St, Sacramento, CA.
Wish me luck!
